One and a Half Pies...

It started out with, "I just want to make sure it tastes good enough for company." And then my granddaughter chimed in, "I wish I had a piece of that pumpkin pie...sigh. I've been chasing dragons all day and it makes you really hungry."  Ella continued the saga with, "I love your pie. It's just the best." So now we have 1 1/2 pumpkin pies to take for Thanksgiving tomorrow.

So I decided to make another French Silk pie, as that is Lucas's favorite.

And Berry Crisp, as Dawn like fruit deserts that are healthier.

Don't you just love Thanksgiving?

Happy Thanksgiving to One and All

Cherry Top with Button On Apron

Here's my little cherry top in her newest outfit. The cute button on apron just made this top pop!  It was fun to create because I enjoy putting different fabrics together to create an overall feeling.

Since we live in the Chicagoland area, I'm planning on extending the use of this outfit by adding a long sleeve t-shirt.

Adding a Bit More Color

I went back to the store and bought a few colorful picks for about $1.00 each. In order to raise them to the height that I needed, I made these wire extensions out of coat hangers.

I covered the twisted metal coat hanger with electrical tape to give it more strength and so it would also blend into the pine branches.  Next, I twisted the pick onto the top of the covered wire, and then recovered that exposed wire again.

Now, I have more additional color and at a reasonable cost.  I even found some little red sparkly birds that I wound around the tops of individual branches.

Here is how the completed planters look on my front porch.

Evergreen Branches Filled Planters for M y Front Porch

Today, I've been creating some evergreen planters for my front porch for Christmas.  I use the earth from my summer planters as the base for the evergreen branches. I made them in the garage today and will be watering them until the weather is cold enough for the earth in the planters to freeze. Usually I am running outside in the cold from pine tree to pine tree cutting and gathering my greens.

I just love using things in nature from my yard to make my evergreen pots. I used four different kinds of evergreens.  I will probably add a few large red and green plastic ornaments to give them a bit more color.  Last year I found these sparkly red cardinals on clips and I add two to each planter.  You can't really see them in these pictures, but I also wired pine cones to wood shim sticks and inserted them into the greens also.

I make two planters for my front porch as I like symmetry.
