Sewing a Baby Gift For Someone Special

It's been a long time since there have been babies in this house!

So it was so much fun sewing up this darling outfit
for a friend that recently had a baby.

For years, she has seen me sew unique outfits
for my own children and grandchildren,  but
this one was created just for her little girl.

"I'm saving it,  she said.
For something special."

And that is why I love to sew.
It's that chance to create something special
just for
that special someone that you care about.

Smiles,
Deborah

New Beginnings and a Rainbow for Mother and Infant

Recently, I was sewing for a hospital program that involved supporting mothers who were dealing with substance abuse issues.  The outfits donated were for their newborn infants.

I thought that this fabric titled, Rainbow Baby, was so
cheerful and uplifting.

Now, I have to admit that I didn't know that the term rainbow baby  is used for is a baby born shortly after the loss of a previous baby due to miscarriage, stillbirth or death in infancy. This term is given to these special rainbow babies because a rainbow typically follows a storm, giving us hope of what's to come

But as I thought of the situation of the STORM that mothers with substance abuse are going through,  as they try to overcome their
own issues to try to give their baby
the healthiest environment to grow,
I felt that the outfits really did fit the situation.

My hope is that these mothers will see their precious
child and realize how important it is to change themselves.

These babies are special, and I wanted their outfits to yell...
"Look at me...see how beautiful and special I am."

With support from this hospital program, and from people that they don't even know like me,  perhaps they can see the rainbow
that is there for both Mother and Child.
